I'll see your 4 miles, and raise you a half.
This morning's run was awesome. Got started a little bit late, but the weather was fantastic (low 60s, overcast with a slight drizzle) and I felt really strong the whole time. It was actually eerily quiet when I went out. No wind, no birds. Loved it. Plus, I loved the playlist:
Smellin' Coffee - Chris Rice
You Bless Me - Darrell Evans
The Power of a Moment - Chris Rice
I Am In Love With You - Darrell Evans
Give Us Clean Hands - Charlie Hall
Because You Are - Everybodyduck
Use Me Here - Everybodyduck
Hands in the Air - The Waiting
Do Not Move - DCB
There's a little history with "I Am In Love With You." It was our processional at our wedding. A bunch of our musician friends played it and it was incredible. So, as I was running, all these images were flooding my mind. Standing in front of the church with my friend and pastor, watching my best friends walking down the aisle toward me while our families and friends looked on with smiles on their faces. Then, Julie emerging from the back, smiling so big I could see her nose wrinkling. When her smile is true, her nose wrinkles up. I love it. Her dad walked her to me and the rest is history. That'll get you through a run.
Then, on the home stretch, DCB's "Do Not Move" came on. It's replacing DBC's (hmha) "Reason to Believe" as my finishing song. I swear I ran that last 3/4 mile at a 7 or 8 minute pace. I felt tingly and energized by it. Just awesome.
A wonderful run to start the day. Good stuff.
Oh, and the strangest thing I saw on today's run: An empty E.P.T. pregnancy test box in the graveyard. I don't even have a quip for that.
